CAGV Education Fund Announces Contest Winners

We recently announced our winners to our 2nd Annual art & essay contest. The contest invited high school aged youth in CT to participate by submitting an essay or artwork relating to the issue of gun violence and the availability of guns. Due to the overwhelming response, we added honorable mention winners to each category.

First place winners of $500 each were Louise Lisboa, Health Magnet at Harding High School, Bridgeport, Essay; and Jennifer Chen, Newington High School, Art. Honorable mention winners of $100 awards included San Quach, East Hartford High School, Essay; Joe Amrani, Cooperative Arts & Humanities, New Haven, Essay; and Barbara, Heffermehl, Stamford Academy of Information Technology, Art.

The youth-centered project is being partially funded by a matching grant of $10,000 awarded by Co/Motion, the Youth Division of The Alliance for Justice in Washington, D.C. Co/Motion is specifically concerned with the issue of gun violence. See all the winners and links to their essays and art.
